Migration components for the past 40 years
This slide disaggregates net interstate and overseas migration since 1971. The orange bars show net overseas migration; the blue bars, interstate migration. The historically strong overseas gains between 2004-2008 suggest that Tasmania's symbolic 500,000th person might most appropriately be an international immigrant - or his/her new baby!
